FAQs

How do I know that I need help?

It may be that you are living life at 100 miles an hour or have suddenly realised that the stuff around you is taking over your home. Quite often though this desire to start afresh can be as a result of changes that we face in our lives such as a new job, moving house, down-sizing, a new baby or starting to work from home.

What areas of my house will you help organise?

I can help you organise any area of your home including your kitchen , bedroom including wardrobe, living room, childrens’ bedrooms and play rooms, study/home office, spare rooms, garage and loft/attic.

Why do I need someone to help me?

As I have no emotional connection to your possessions or the problem, it is easier for me to identify the areas that need organising and the best way to do this. I am also experienced in organising spaces and know that an area can look worse before it starts to look better . This is part of the process and once the decision has been made on what to keep, it is amazing how quickly the space is transformed.

How many rooms can you clear in a 6 hour session?

Usually, I would expect to be able to organise 1-2 rooms but this really depends on the size of the space and the amount of stuff that you have.  I will give you an estimate of what can be achieved during our initial discussion.

Can you help me source storage solutions for my home?

Yes, I can either give you ideas of places / items to buy or I can source these for you as part of the bespoke service.  I also have an service option where I can supply a ‘starter’ pack of storage solutions.

Will you take away / dispose of items that I no longer want?

Due to the regulations governing waste disposal, I do not dispose of any items directly on behalf of clients but I can advise you on the different options in your area.

Will I have to throw stuff away?

The reason that our homes get disorganised and messy is that we have too much stuff and so for a declutter to be most effective, I would normally recommend letting go of around 50-60% of your stuff.  However, I will not force you to throw anything away and will work with you to identify the items which you can let go.

Who does the work?

The work is primarily done by me although I will need to bring in help if clearing a loft / attic space and also possibly for a garage depending on the size of the items being stored.

Do I need to clean and tidy the area first?

No, you don’t need to tidy up before I start work.

Will you clean my house?

No, I wont clean your house or the area being organised, however I don’t put items back onto dirty shelves or in dirty cupboards but will dust / hoover these first. I bring my own dusters but I will need to use your hoover.

Can you help sort my paperwork?

Yes I can help sort your paperwork and help you set up systems which help you keep on top of this in the future.

Do I need to be at home during a declutter session?

Yes, you will need to be at home to decide on what items are kept and which are let go. Some clients like to work alongside me and that is fine as well.

What personal data do you keep?

Organised & Inspired is registered with the Information Commissioning Office and acts within strict confidentiality and privacy rules.  All details are kept are purely to allow me to carry out my job effectively and will never be shared with outside parties. I will only take photos with your consent including how they can be used and any that are taken will be anonymised so that neither you nor your home can be identified later.
